Spotlight: Rosabel Teo, Centre Director for Kip McGrath Tampines North Education Centre

We spent an afternoon with Rosabel Teo of Kip McGrath Tampines North Education Centre. Her centre was started back in 2008 after months of searching for the most ideal system to help students, something that Rosabel has always been passionate about.

What were you doing prior to starting your centre and how did the centre come about?

I was a teacher at 2 MOE schools for about 10 years before I decided to stop teaching at public schools. That was in 2007.  I looked around and found out that Kip McGrath has quite a good way of teaching the kids. The methodology is good. It really helps the kids. Being a teacher, we are able to assess and see which are the programs that are suitable for the current students.

How has the experience been for you so far?

It’s been great! To see the students do well and perform well in school really gives you a huge motivation to carry on.

Last year, one of my students from Gongshang Primary School achieved top ten in the school. She joined us when she was in Primary 4. She was a high achiever so we customised the lessons for her and as such we stretched her further. She did very well and ended up in the top 10. Previously she had won numerous awards and bursaries. For PSLE, she actually got 270+ and now she is in Raffles Girls School (RGS).
